Foundation
The Jiva Public School was established in 1994 with the objective of
providing education in more meaningful ways.
At Jiva, your child is at the center of all learning activity and
has access to resources through which skills are easy to learn,
communication is set up, and opinions and ideas are shared. The
focus is on learning, not on teaching. It is the teacher’s duty to
ensure that learning takes place in an atmosphere that is conducive
to learning -- one which is friendly, non- threatening, full of
activities and provides opportunities for interaction and
self-expression.

To achieve this, the school adopted
a teaching methodology that offeres students a chance to
do well academically, and simultaneously learn values and
lifelong skills in learning as per their nature.
Unique learning styles
The goal of successful learning is to identify the strengths
and weaknesses of each student and to build on them. Jiva’s
small-sized classes enable teachers to give adequate time
to each learner. Further, the use of special learner profiles
helps identify the nature of each student, and guides learners
toward self-understanding, self-improvement, and appropriate
career paths.
Activity based Instruction
In order to help students attain their true potentials,
Jiva teachers make extensive use of stimulating learning
activities that encourage students to interact closely with
their peers, the teacher, and their environment. These activities
also encompass multi-sensory learning styles to develop
the visual, auditory, and kinesthetic faculties of students.
Such co-operative learning methods help to maximize interactivity,
and strengthen teamwork and interpersonal skills.
Beyond the Classroom
Learning is not confined to the walls of the Jiva School.
Even the homework encourages students to explore their world,
and to apply the knowledge and skills acquired in class.
For example, students might have to calculate the average
weekly expenditure of their home and then draft a budget
or interview people in their neighborhood to learn about
civic issues. This hands-on style of education triggers
quantum learning, making learning a pleasure rather than
a punishment.
Partners in Learning
Creating an atmosphere for effective learning is not just
the job of the teacher. It requires a collaborative effort
among parents, teachers and administrators. To this end,
Jiva carries out a number of special programs that foster
a learning community, significantly extending and reinforcing
successful climates for learning.
