The Laws of Learning

The Laws of Learning (LOL) is a concept developed by Steven Rudolph (Director, Jiva Education). It proposes that there are a number of educational principles, which, if followed, increase the amount an individual learns. These concepts can be used as the basis for designing superior learning environment. They are pertinent to teachers, principals, administrators and parents.

1. Know Your Learning Style

2. Make Meaning (make what you’re learning relevant to your life)

3. Get into the Learning Zone

4. Make Connections (connect ideas to each other make them stick)

5.  Ask Powerful Questions

6. Practice, Practice, Practice

7. Eat Right, Drink Right, and Exercise

Laws of Learning for Parents and Teachers

8. Encourage Self-Discipline

9. Be a Model (they will do as you do)

10. Engage Emotions (learning is more intense when emotions are engaged)
