Every person is unique. And much of our lives
is spent in understanding the who we are and where we fit in
the world. Those who figure out their own personal puzzle
typically wind up being happier in life--happier in their
jobs, in their families, with friends, and so on.
In What's My Nature, Steven Rudolph provides a simple, yet
powerful framework that individuals can use to understand
their unique personality types, as well as to determine
careers that are compatible with their natures. Rudolph
explains how combining two key theories, Howard Gardner's
Multiple Intelligences and his own Multiple Natures concept,
produces profiles that clearly explain which professions are
suitable for certain individuals, and which are not.
This book is the first official publication of the Multiple
Natures Theory. Rudolph explains in depth his dissatisfaction
with existing personality type theories, which he found to be
too complicated and esoteric. He also discusses how the MI
concept was limited in describing people's natures and their
natural attraction toward certain types of work. He then
created the MN theory to fill this gap, providing a simple,
yet complete model that explains what people do with their
Multiple Intelligences. The MN model includes 9 types of
natures, namely Protective, Educative, Administrative,
Creative, Healing, Entertaining, Providing, Entrepreneurial,
and Adventurous.
Rudolph goes on to demonstrate how people who know their
natures are better-adjusted and happier in life. He provides
practical examples of personality types and the careers that
are ideal matches, e.g., how Protective types make better
lawyers, while Providing types do better in
hospitality-related professions.
Finally, Rudolph shows how the Multiple Natures model can be
utilized by students trying to figure out their career paths,
parents trying to help guide their children, teachers,
guidance counselors, professionals who are not happy in their
jobs and are looking for a change, as well as employers who
want to hire or place the right people in the right
positions.
