Jiva Ayurbaby Plan –For a Perfect Pregnancy

God could not be everywhere, so he created mothers.” 

This famous Jewish proverb clearly signifies the importance of motherhood. Every woman has the innate desire to experience the joys of motherhood. After all, isn’t it the most rewarding job in the world? To hear that little one say ‘mamma’ is a matchless feeling that fades everything else in comparison.

Numerous couples who wish to step into parenthood are working hard to give their child the best possible upbringing in terms of good health, moral values and knowledge. But how many of them actually succeed in this quest for the best? Today, we see growing incidences of children who are born with congenital and genetic disorders, many of them with underdeveloped organs, including brain and mind, and many others who are hyperactive, restless, violent and aggressive, even in their early age. It has been observed that most of today’s kids are unreligious and shy away from anything to do with spirituality or morality. Where are parents going wrong?

Many of us fail to realize that our future depends on how well we have planned in our present. We spend so much time and money in planning investments that will help us live securely and happily in old age. But then, aren’t our children our best security? What use is all the money if your kids are not healthy or happy? Therefore, it is best to invest in your child, even before she is born. It is crucial for prospective parents to understand that apart from their physical and mental health at the time of conception, it is their financial, social, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing that affect the holistic health of the child. If parents enjoy a harmonious physical, mental and emotional relationship, the child is bound to be balanced and healthy.

So, what can couples do to ensure their child has a healthy and normal life? Well, the Jiva Ayurbaby Plan does that for you!

The Jiva Ayurbaby Plan

The Ayurbaby Plan is a highly customizable Ayurveda-based pregnancy program which helps couples to be bestowed with a healthy child — mentally, physically and spiritually. The plan is made up of the following elements:

  • Panchakarma – Ayurvedic treatment therapies recommended to both man and woman for the preconception and postnatal stages.

  • Dietary Guidelines – Recommended in accordance with each individual’s mind-body constitution.  

  • Lifestyle Changes – Daily living tips advised to both man and woman to facilitate easy conception and a trouble-free pregnancy.

  • Herbal Medicines – Prescribed by an Ayurvedic physician upon detailed analysis of medical history.

The Three Stages

Pregnancy is not just about those nine months after conception. Your health – physical, emotional and spiritual – should be given paramount consideration even before you think of having children. By doing so, you give the baby a better chance to be born healthy. Not just that, it also makes for an easier pregnancy and delivery.

The Ayurbaby Plan is divided into three stages – Preconception, Conception, and Postnatal Care – with each stage designed to help you deliver a healthy and well-balanced child.

 

Preconception

The plan of conception should start three months prior to the day of union of the husband and wife. Cleansing, strengthening and preparing of their bodies, minds and souls using herbs, Panchakarma therapies, and lifestyle practices are some of the most crucial steps that will help couples ease into the stage of conception.

The Jiva Ayurbaby Plan recommends the following steps for preconception cleansing:

  • Massage your body with warm sesame oil or olive oil daily. First apply oil to your head and then massage gently for few minutes. Put one or two drops of oil in each ear and use the fingertip to apply oil in inner portion of the nose. Once the head is finished, apply oil on other parts of body and rub gently.

  • Take cleansing herbs - such as Triphala (Terminalia bellirica), Panchsakar Churna, and Castor Oil - twice daily.

  • Try to eat very light digestible food such as khichadi (preparation made from rice and lentils), mung dal (split green beans) soup, steamed vegetables, and fruits.

  • If your digestion is impaired, our doctor can prescribe you tailor-made herbs to cure your problem and clear toxins from your body’s channels.

  • After detoxification, the couple should discontinue the purifying herbal compounds and should start taking fertility-enhancing herbs.

The detoxification program balances all the three doshas (Ayurvedic humors) and prepares the uterus for a healthy conception. Fertility-enhancing herbs should follow the detoxification program because these herbs can be effective in reaching the targeted tissues only after the impurities and obstructions are removed from the body.

Diet and Lifestyle to Boost Fertility:

  • Fresh, organic fruits and vegetables
  • Whole grains and Mung Daal (split green beans)
  • Dairy proteins, including milk, lassi (buttermilk), and panir (fresh cheese made of milk)
  • Soaked almonds or soaked walnuts
  • Sweet, juicy fruits such as mangoes, peaches, plums, and pears
  • Dried fruits such as dates, figs, and raisins
  • Avoid excessive fasting or excessive involvement in sex
  • Avoid sleeping during day time or staying awake at nights
  • Avoid smoking, drinking alcohol and using narcotics

Conception

At the end of the three-month long preparation comes the day of conception (garbadharan) on which the couple practices certain relaxation techniques. The nine-month gestation period is then spent on nourishing the young fetus so that she gets the best possible psychological conditioning.

Pregnant women have to take good care of themselves because everything they do has an impact on their fetus. According to Ayurveda, they should, from the very first day of pregnancy, remain in high spirits and think positively about the life ahead.

An expecting mother should…

  • Always try to be in a happy mood
  • Be clean, neat and well dressed
  • Wear simple, loose-fitting clothes
  • Sleep under a roof in a clean environment and comfortable bed
  • Eat tasty, nourishing food
  • Perform religious rites and read spiritual books
  • Do light massage with medicated oil or sesame oil
  • Take adequate rest and sleep at least 7-8 hours at night
  • Go for morning and evening walks
  • Try light exercises and pregnancy yoga
  • Avoid having excessive sex particularly during early and late pregnancy
  • Avoid squatting for a long time or sitting in an uncomfortable position or on a hard surface
  • Avoid lifting heavy things or remain in a bending position for a long time
  • Avoid consumption of dry, stale, fermented, heavy, hot or strong food, and alcohol

As part of the Ayurbaby plan, the mother is also given Panchakarma treatments, massages and herbal medications that will help her give birth to a healthy baby through normal delivery.

Antenatal Diet

Improper or unbalanced diet is responsible for various congenital abnormalities in the developing fetus. A balanced diet is one that balances the three doshasand nourishes the seven dhatus(body tissues). An expecting mother should have more of fresh vegetables, fresh and dried fruits, salads, lentils, yogurt, milk, fresh butter, wheat, rye, barley, hazelnuts, almonds, rice, honey. These are sattvic(pure) foods that help to maintain the woman’s health and increase strength, vigor and vitality. It also helps to maintain purity of mind in the fetus.
 

Postnatal Care

Most Ayurvedic experts believe the postnatal phase lasts for 45 days and this is the time when women need to take extra care of their bodies. As part of the Ayurbaby plan, the new mother gets regular Panchakarma massage to ease the back pain and stress associated with delivery. To keep her system strong and to provide her baby with extra nourishment, the mother takes specially prepared Ayurvedic herbs. The child is also regularly pampered with Ayurvedic baby massage to stimulate her body and brain.


Diet and Lifestyle for Puerperal Woman:

  • Take medicated oils and ghee with various hot soups or gruels, milk garnished with garlic, onions, black pepper, ginger, rock salt, etc., in accordance with her digestive power.
  • Massage the entire body with herbal oil. After massage, take bath with sufficient amount of lukewarm water.
  • Clean the vagina with medicated lukewarm water twice daily, so that abnormal blood accumulated in the uterus is excreted properly and Vata (air) is also suppressed.
  • For post-delivery pains, 10 ml of Dashmula decoction added with half teaspoon of dried ginger powder should be taken twice or thrice in a day.
  • Take medicated jaggery water.
