Controlling Migraine in 4 Simple Steps

Migraine is not our usual headache. Known as Shirashool in Ayurveda, it can be triggered by strong light, strong smell or If you are feeling them, you might experience pounding pain, dizziness, nausea and you might get sensitive to sound and light which is also known as photophobia. Whenever a migraine attack strikes, a person will do almost every effort to make it go away, worst of which is popping a pain killer.

Nowadays, migraine and headache are common issues, and with evolving lifestyle, especially the food habits of many of us, we are responsible for this issue. In this article, we are going to show you how can you control migraine with natural or Ayurvedic ingredients.

1. Lavender oil

Lavender is one of the essential ingredient that gives long term relief from migraines. By inhaling essential oils from lavender, it will help you ease migraine pains. By just inhaling lavender essential oil for 15 minutes during the attack will give you faster relief than anything. This oil can be inhaled directly or applied to the temples.

2. Almond Oil in Nostrils

If you get migraine attacks, you can apply 4-5 drops of almond oil in each nostril before going to bed. You can also use almond oil to massage your head and neck with almond oil for relief in migraine pain.

3. Peppermint oil

The main ingredient in peppermint oil, that is menthol will stop migraine from coming on, applying menthol solution to the forehead and temples is more effective than placebo for pain, nausea and light sensitivity associated to migraines.

4. Yoga & Meditation

Meditation, exercises related to breathing, and body postures are all associated with Yoga and Yoga related exercises support health and well being. Yoga will definitely relieve the frequency, duration and intensity of migraines. Yoga also helps to improve anxiety, release tension in migraine trigger areas and it improves overall vascular health.
