One of the most effective ingredients used for migraines is saffron. Thanks to its dosha balancing properties, it helps relieve pain and other symptoms of a migraine. So, here’s an Ayurvedic recipe that combines the benefits of saffron to ward off the pain while satisfying your hunger pangs as well. Now that’s what we call a double benefit!
Are those piercing headaches not letting you think straight? We’ve got a sweet remedy for that.
Begin by soaking a pinch of saffron in 1 tbsp of water for 10 minutes.
Rinse 1½ cups of basmati rice thoroughly and drain the excess water.
Heat a pot over medium heat and add 3 tbs of ghee.
Add 3-4 bay leaves (tej patta), 1 teaspoon of cinnamon (Dalchini) powder, 7 whole cloves (laung), ½ teaspoon of salt, and 7 cardamom pods (elaichi). Mix all the ingredients together and let them sit for a minute.
Reduce the heat to low, add the rice and mix it well with the spices for 2 minutes.
Pour in 4 cups of hot water into the mix and add the soaked saffron. Let it boil uncovered for 10 minutes.
Then increase the heat to medium, stir once or twice to keep from sticking and let it cook until the rice is tender.
This simple recipe is full of powerful ingredients, like kesar, dalchini, and elaichi and it's your best bet for preventing those undesirable migraine attacks. Can you think of a nicer way to get rid of headaches? Who says migraine fighting medicines have to taste bland and boring!
