5 Ayurvedic Remedies for Itchy Infections

Have you wondered why itching in the folds of your toes, fingers and skin are so common during the rainy season? It is because infection-causing bacteria love hot and humid conditions and when you keep your rain soaked socks (and undergarments) on, these bacteria thrive and feed on the skin cells, causing irritation and infections.

This can be prevented with simple Ayurvedic home remedies and we have 5 tried and tested home remedies for itchy infections for you!

  1. Aloe vera is a wonder herb that is very effective for almost any skin condition. Crush a leaf of aloe vera and squeeze the gel from it to apply on the affected area. Make sure you wash the area with a disinfectant first. Let the gel sit on the affected area as long as you can without washing it away or bringing it in contact with water.

  2. Coconut oil has anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties which makes it perfect for skin infections caused by bacteria and fungi. Adding cinnamon essence makes it even more effective in curbing microbial growth and keeping your skin disease-free.

  3. Garlic has similar properties and can be used for preventing infections. Crush a few cloves of fresh garlic and apply the paste on the area where it itches, two or three times a day. Chewing garlic also helps build immunity. Although this can help, a word of caution, if you see raw skin or your itching has drawn blood then do not use this home remedy. Try aloe vera as an alternative.

  4. Neem and turmeric paste is also very commonly recommended for its efficacy. Take a few fresh neem leaves, add a chunk of fresh turmeric and make a fine paste. Applying this paste on the itchy area will soothe it.

  5. Topical application of mint juice prevents growth of bacteria, yeast and fungi and banishes itches and rashes.

Pro Tip:Avoid sweet foods since these tend to increase yeast growth in your body and aggravate infections.

Major skin diseases like Psoriasis can also lead to itchy & rashy skin. Always consult doctors to get psoriasis treatment in Ayurveda for long term solution
