5 Tips to Calm the Anxious Mind with Ayurveda

Anxiety is a mental disorder that causes you to constantly be in a state of worry and fear. You feel nervous and fearful for no reason and are constantly expecting the worst. Daily life situations stress you out and you feel paranoid about everything. If you found yourself relating to any of these, you may be suffering from anxiety.

Aside from the emotional and mental symptoms, anxiety also has physical signs, like irregular heartbeats, shallow breathing, stiffness in the body, and inability to sleep well. According to Ayurveda, anxiety is caused by an excess of prana vayu (a sub-dosha of vata) in the brain.

Home Remedies

  • Give yourself a daily head massage with almond oil as it pacifies the vata. Also, put some drops in your nose as well.

  • Soak a handful of badams (almonds) overnight. Make a paste of it the next day and mix it in a glass of milk. Add a pinch of dalchini (cinnamon) for a delicious tasting and anxiety-banishing drink.

  • It is important to adopt a satvik diet and lifestyle. This means that you should eat a diet of fresh, unprocessed and light foods, not drink alcohol or smoke, and think positive and wholesome thoughts.

  • Try the Jiva stress free tablet for great results.

  • They say laughter is the best medicine. You can attend laughter therapy or just watch comedy shows and spend time with people who make you happy.

While these remedies bring you relief from the anxiety episodes, to be free of the problem completely, you should consult a Jiva doctor. Dial 0129-4040404 from your mobile phone or click on ‘Speak to a Doctor’ under the CONNECT tab in the Jiva Health App.
