Ayurvedic steam treatments to get rid of blackheads

Blackheads are caused due to the aggravation of Kapha. Steaming your skin is by far the easiest and quickest way to get rid of blackheads naturally. It softens the skin and opens up the pores, naturally driving the blackheads out.

To increase the efficacy of steaming, you can add a few ingredients to the water that do wonders for your skin, while driving those blackheads out for good. Here’s a quick look at some of those herbs.

Lemon:

Lemon is widely used in skincare, especially when it comes to cleansing. Rich in citric acid, lemon works as a natural astringent. It is great for deep cleaning and tightening the skin pores, thereby pushing out the blackheads. Its antibacterial properties fight germs and regulate the build up of oil in the skin, which goes a long way in reducing the appearance of blackheads.

Liquorice:

Liquorice, commonly known as mulethi, is rich in amino acids and is famous for its pore tightening and collagen regenerative qualities. Being anti-inflammatory in nature, mulethi helps control oil production, preventing blackheads.

Rose Petals:

Rose petals have been a popular cleanser for centuries, used to treat acne, pimples, and other skin conditions. Its antimicrobial properties are suitable for treating blackheads, and its toning properties help soothe inflamed skin.

Sandalwood:

When it comes to skincare, sandalwood, or chandan, is packed to the brim with nature's goodness. Its antibacterial and cooling properties balance the aggravated Kapha and help unclog the pores. In addition to this, it also works as an astringent that tightens the pores, preventing it from clogging and erupting in blackheads.
