Drive Away Bad Breath with These 9 Home Remedies

The presence of decaying food and bacteria can usually lead to bad breath. Moreover, certain medical issues can also be the root cause of this condition. One of the most common causes of bad breath is poor oral hygiene.Thus, natural treatments for this condition emphasizes on maintaining proper oral hygiene by brushing and flossing the teeth twice daily. Following are some of the natural home remedies that can help you get rid of bad breath and maintain proper oral hygiene:

  • Gargle with a cup of warm water mixed with some baking soda. This is a widely used natural remedy for bad breath. Also, using hydrogen peroxide in small amounts can prove to be beneficial.

  • Chew fresh guava or its tender leaves. Basil leaves can also be used for this purpose.

  • Crunchy foods like apples, avocados, carrots, and celery stimulate the production of saliva and prevent dry mouth, which in turn helps avoid bad breath.

  • An effective treatment for bad breath is consuming fenugreek or Methi tea. Make fenugreek tea by simmering one teaspoon of fenugreek seeds in half a liter of water and then straining the mixture.

  • Rinse the mouth regularly with lemon juice mixed with water. This mixture can also be used in combination with ginger juice to avoid bad breath.

  • Cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, and fennel seeds taken after meals are known to be an effective home remedy for bad breath.

  • Brush teeth with the help of neem twigs. This is one of the most time-tested remedies and is still as effective as ever.

  • Natural pineapple juice is also regarded as a good natural cure for bad breath.

  • Mouthwashes with peppermint oil or tea tree oil are also highly beneficial for this purpose.

Apart from these, the intake of probiotic foods like yogurt is highly recommended. Drink plenty of water to help prevent a dry mouth. Also, consumption of green and black tea is useful to inhibit the growth of bacteria.
