Vitiligo Diet - Best Food for Vitiligo

If you are suffering from vitiligo or know someone who has vitiligo symptoms, you might have searched about the best food for vitiligo. It is one of the most frequently asked questions asked by vitiligo sufferers. So, is there any vitiligo diet that can prevent its spread?

Before knowing the best food for vitiligo, let us first understand what causes it, how does it occur?

Ayurvedic perspective of vitiligo

In Ayurveda, vitiligo is known as ‘shwitra rog’, which occurs when there is an aggravation of pitta dosha in the body. Pitta dosha symbolises heat (fire) and is manifested in the skin along with other organs. Pitta is of five types and out of them; bhajrak pitta is responsible for causing vitiligo. Bhajrak pitta leads to the formation of ama (toxins) which consequently affects deeper tissues of the body such as rakta (blood), rasa dhatu (nutrient from food), lasika (lymph) and mamsa (muscles). It causes depigmentation of the skin, resulting in loss of skin tone, white patches on the skin, and premature greying of hair.

Therefore, to treat this illness, Ayurveda goes to the root cause of it. Ayurvedic treatment does not work superficially. It corrects the imbalance of the doshas, eliminates the toxins, cleanses and detoxifies the body, boosts immunity, thereby giving you safe, effective and long-lasting results.

You can consult Jiva Ayurveda doctors for vitiligo treatment. Besides medicines, the doctors suggest customised diet and lifestyle plans, yoga and pranayama, and panchakarma therapies. Effective diet and lifestyle plan help in preventing the progression of the diseases, fastening the healing process, and improving the overall quality of life.

To arrest the progression of the disease, avoid having pitta-aggravating food items like tea, coffee, alcohol, spicy foods, pickle, etc. Avoid having incompatible food items together, for example, non-veg and milk, fish and non-veg, citrus fruits and milk, etc. There are no specific foods that can treat or prevent vitiligo. On consulting the Ayurvedic doctor, you will get a customised diet plan as per your individual prakriti (body constitution) and disease condition.

So, if you or your near ones are suffering from vitiligo, consult a Jiva Ayurveda doctor. You can consult them through call, video call or visit your nearest Jiva clinic. The diet plan they suggest not only works on your impaired immune system but also improves your overall health and well-being.
