Essential Ayurvedic Herbs for Management of Diabetes

There is no doubt about the effectiveness of Ayurvedic medicines in managing diabetes. These medicines use herbs that lower blood sugar level by regulating the metabolism of carbohydrates, stimulating insulin secretion and regulating absorption of sugar. A herbs that are heaven sent blessings for patients are as follow:

1) Gurmar:

The Gurmar leaf reduces our ability to perceive sweetness. It is an herb used in the Ayurvedic treatment of diabetes, constipation and minor digestive problems. It also facilitates weight loss. While buying, look for a standardized extract and buy from a reputed manufacturer. For lowering blood sugar, it is advised to consume 1 tsp of Gurmar powder, twice every day before meals.

2) Neem:

Consuming a spoonful of Neem powder or mixing a teaspoon of it in a glass of water and drinking it in the mornings and evenings can show a significant effect on blood sugar levels. You can also take some Neem leaves and boil it in water and drink it. This helps maintain the insulin levels.

3) Mulberry (Shahtoot):

Mulberry is a popular ingredient in cosmetic products. It is also traditionally used in Ayurvedic medicines to control diabetes. Daily intake of mulberry leaves on an empty stomach can considerably reduce the blood sugar level.

4) Jamun:

The fruit and seeds of Jamun can significantly reduce the blood sugar level in diabetics. Take 60 grams of Jamun leaves and make a paste with water. Consume this daily for 10 days. Then repeat after two months.

5) Shilajit:

Shilajit is one of the best herbal formulations for diabetes. Mix approximately 300 milligrams of Shilajit in water and consume daily. Shilajit is shown to have a positive effect on blood glucose levels. It is extremely vital for anyone suffering from blood sugar issues or diabetes.
