5 Foods to Avoid Piles Patients Should Skip From Their Diet

There are various treatment procedures for piles, like Ayurvedic medicines, yoga and rarely surgery. Maintaining a proper diet is also very important to prevent or reduce piles. The ideal diet for piles sufferers must be fibre rich foods like leafy vegetables and salads. Also it is crucial to stay away from foods that can cause dehydration. Following are some of the foods to avoid while suffering from piles:

1) Dairy Products:

Dairy products on their own do not cause constipation, but it can contribute towards causing discomfort and pain during haemorrhoid outbreaks. Many people recommend the intake of yogurt for piles. Yogurt is rich in beneficial bacteria that help improve digestion and thus aid bowel movement. However, you can take lassi which is good for digestion.

2) Processed Food:

These include packaged foods, lunch meals, and most cereals. These processed foods contain a lot of salt and very little nutrients and fibre. Replacing them with fruits and veggies like kiwi, oranges, grapes, apple, legumes and green leafy vegetables - all rich in both dietary fibre and water - will help with the piles.

3) Alcohol:

Alcohol is dehydrating, which means it can lead to constipation and also upset the digestive balance in your stomach and intestines. Avoid drinking any alcoholic beverages and opt for cooling drinks made from yogurt, instead.

4) Caffeine:

Caffeine is a major cause of dehydration, which can lead to constipation and straining of bowel movements. You should avoid energy drinks, soft drinks, tea, coffee etc. Replace this with plenty of water.

5) Spicy Food:

Usually, spicy foods do not cause pain or even contribute to piles. However, if you have swollen haemorrhoids, stay away from spicy foods as it can make your bowel movements more painful.

Making moderations to your diet can help you manage the condition. Another thing that brings relief from piles is Aloe Vera. You can consume Aloe Vera juice or just apply it to your sores for some nice cooling effect. However, for long term cure, consult a professional at Jiva. They can diagnose the underlying trigger for your condition and prescribe a treatment for it.
