Yoga relieves stress by activating the parasympathetic nervous system, eliminating toxins from the body, releasing muscular tension, stimulating circulation, and drawing attention within. Below are some of the yoga poses that are effective for managing stress:

Uttanasana:

Also known as the standing forward bend, uttanasana helps stretch the hamstring, thighs and hips. Start by standing straight and hands stretched towards the sky. Exhale and bend forwards. Try to bring the palms flat to the floor with the head pressed against the legs. Hold for 4-8 breaths and bend the knees, inhale and bring arms out to sides and raise the arms and torso back up to a standing position.

Adho Mukha Svanasana:

This asana helps stretch the shoulders, neck, and spine. It helps to quiet the mind, alleviate stress, and reduce anxiety. Start by getting on all fours, lower forearms to the floor, place the toes under and lift the hips towards the ceiling. Place the hands shoulder-width apart and spread the fingers wide. Let the head and neck hang freely. Hold for 2-6 breaths and then release.

Anjanayasana:

Start by getting into Adho Mukha Svanasana, exhale, and step your right feet forward between your hands. Now lower your left knee to the floor and slide back until you feel a stretch in your thigh and groin. Repeat with the other leg.

Balasana:

This asana is a resting pose that helps to ease stress and benefits the nervous and lymphatic system. Start by kneeling on the floor with the legs together and sit back on the heels. Bend forward until the chest rests on the thighs and the forehead is on the floor. Hold for 5 breaths and release.

Setu Bandha Sarvangasana:

Start by lying on the back, bend your knees and place the feet on the floor hip wide. Place arms alongside the body with the palms flat and facing down. Inhale and lift hips rolling the spine off the floor. Tighten legs and buttocks to lift the hips higher. Hold for 4-8 breaths and release with exhaling and slowing rolling spine back on the floor.

Regular practise of the above mentioned yoga exercises can prove to be very helpful in managing the effects of stress. Use them either singularly or in a sequence. These yoga poses will help you maintain a state of calm and a stress-free mind. For complete diagnosis and treatment, call 0129-4040404 for a personalized treatment and medicines.
