How to Find The Right Balance for Your Vata Child?s Temperament

When parenting, you are no stranger to the feeling of confusion. You want to do everything right but it is not easy. However, Ayurveda helps you determine your child’s dosha and balance it.

The Personality of a Vata Child

Vata is known to be windy, dry, and of cold nature. Being the lightest element of air and ether, it easily gets out of balance and causes disharmony and disease. Mentally, an imbalanced vata causes anxiety, restlessness, or distraction. Physically, it can cause a cough, nasal congestion, dry skin, cracking joints, insomnia, bloating, or constipation.

Ayurveda recommends the following to balance the moods of a vata child.

Taste

  • Their diet should include healthy fats, plenty of vegetables (especially root vegetables), fruits, rice, and spices, like jaiphal, elaichi, and dalchini.

  • Giving honey for children above the age of 1 is beneficial in keeping vata balanced

Touch and smell

  • Physical intimacy is important and grounding for your vata child so cuddle and massage him abundantly.

  • Oil massages (abhyanga) using warm, sweet, and sour aromas like orange, rose, and vanilla help balance the vata dosha.

  • Vata children get cold easily so it’s important to keep them warm.

Sight, Sound & Colors

  • Earthy, neutral, and soft, pastel colours are beneficial for the vata child. Use them for his room, clothing, and more.

  • Loud places aggravate his vata dosha and sweet, soothing music calms his mind.

Routines

  • Vata child finds balance through reliable routines. Ensure that his bedtime and mealtimes are regular and consistent.

  • Keep your home environment calm and quiet.

With these few tips, your kid’s body and mind can be balanced, giving him a healthy childhood. To know about your child and their dosha, consult a Jiva doctor. Dial 0129-4040404 or click on ‘Speak to a Doctor’ under the CONNECT tab in Jiva Health App.
