5 Ayurveda Tips to Cool Your Pitta

The balance of your body’s dosha is fragile and can be tipped with the slightest of change in your diet, mindset or environment. For instance, pitta can be easily aggravated in a hot and intense environment. A diet consisting of food like cheese, honey, sour fruits, tomatoes, garlic, hot peppers can also increase your agni. Finally, not keeping to regular meal times can also cause your body’s agni to shoot up, leading to skin problems like acne, breakout, and rashes.

However, here is how you can bring down your pitta in just 60 minutes:

  • Cut a cold cucumber into eight slices.

  • Next, lie down and place the slices on specific energy (marma) points: Two slices on your inner ankle points (Gulpha marma), two on the small hollowed area between your ankle bone and your heel, two in the centre of your wrists facing up, and two on the eyelids.

  • Now, relax and focus on your breathing. Take slow, steady, and deep calming breaths. Feel the oxygen going in, coursing through your body, and coming out.

  • You’ll feel your pitta calming down in just 60 seconds. And in the minutes following that, you will feel the cooling sensation spread throughout your body.

  • To enhance the cooling effect, you can also spray some rose water on your face, chest and stomach it has cooling and calming properties.

And there you go! You’ll be cool and calm in just 60 seconds and with the Pitta back in balance, you won’t have to worry about it taking a toll on your skin either.
