7 Ayurvedic Aphrodisiacs for a Wholesome Sex Life

Sex is a part of life. It is an instinct that is built into both men and women. However, many things can take a toll on our sex drive, like stress, exhaustion, poor nutrition, or just our lifestyle, which may have become overall sedentary and unhealthy.

But instead of getting worried, you can turn to Ayurvedic aphrodisiacs that impart uninterrupted sexual strength and increase your passion. Here are the herbs that that can help boost your libido and sexual potency.

Garlic

We know that a garlic-laced breath is the last thing you want when you have romance on the mind, but garlic is a great aphrodisiac for turning you on. It has a substance called allicin that increases blood flow to the sexual organs, thereby enhancing stamina and performance. Chewing garlic a few hours before you initiate lovemaking will spice things up for you considerably.

Shatavari

When it comes to female libido, Shatvari is known as the ‘Queen of Herbs’. It increases blood flow to the genital area and enhances sexual sensation and vaginal lubrication. To prepare a decoction, crush the fresh roots of Shatavari, add to water and simmer for a few minutes on medium flame. You can also use Shatavari powder and have 3-10 grams everyday, mixed with milk or juice.

Nutmeg

This spice warms the loins and stimulates the nervous system. It works to prevent premature ejaculation. It is also known for its carminative effect that increases the activity of other herbs. Have 1 gram of nutmeg with some honey a few hours before your special night.

Gokshura

An aphrodisiac that works for both men and women, Gokshura increase libido and promotes ovulation and sperm production. It is also known to increase testosterone levels in the body and is used to help men who’re suffering from Erectile Dysfunction. You can have 1-3 gms of Gokshura powder dissolved in milk or water to boost sexual performance.

Kaunch

Kaunch is recognized as an aphrodisiac and has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for centuries. It improves potency and strength, boosts sperm count and the quality of sperms being produced, and also increases testosterone levels in the body. You can have 5-10 grams of Kaunch powder mixed in milk or water, once or twice a day, or as prescribed by your Jiva doctor.

Saffron

Saffron has long been known for enhancing libido. Mix a pinch of saffron in a glass of warm milk and drink this at bedtime every day.

Safed Musli

Safed Musli is considered a Divya Aushadha (Divine Herb) in Ayurveda. It induces vigor and vitality and acts as a libido enhancer. In men, it increases desire and helps them sustain an erection and last longer. It also acts as a remedy for low sperm count, premature ejaculation, and prostate enlargement. For women, Safed Musli improves functioning of the sexual organ, increases stamina, and ensures multiple orgasms.

Remember that an unhealthy diet, lack of exercise, and being stressed out can affect your sex drive. While the aphrodisiacs mentioned above do help to improve your libido, they are more of a temporary solution than a long-term one.
