Saffron helps in the treatment of depression and epilepsy as it also has antidepressant properties. It influences the serotonin activity in the brain. Below are a few ways in which saffron can be consumed to benefit the most:

With ghee:

For people suffering from diabetes, consume half a teaspoon of ghee with a pinch of saffron.

With warm milk:

Mix half a teaspoon of saffron with warm milk and apply on the forehead and nose to get relief from cold and congestion. Also, consuming this concoction can help in the purification of blood and induce sleep.

With honey:

Massage gums with saffron powder mixed with honey to reduce inflammation and soreness.

With liquorice root:

Grind a tbsp of liquorice root with milk, add a pinch of saffron, and apply this paste on bald patches to cure hair loss and baldness.

Apart from this, saffron is also used to enhance colour and flavour of foods. The best way to use this herb in cooking is to soak it in warm milk or water for 10 minutes before adding it to the food.
