With Ayurveda By Your Side, Say Goodbye To Sinus

Many people suffer from sinus. There can be many causes like air pollution, stress, weather fluctuations and more. However, Ayurveda has tips to ease the symptoms.

Highlights

  • Sinus is caused by an imbalance in Prana Vata and Shleshaka Kapha.

  • Lifestyle and dietary changes can improve the condition.

  • Vata-kapha pacifying diet is also beneficial.

We all take easy breathing for granted. But those who suffer from a blocked nose or sinus-related problems aren’t as lucky. Sinus is caused by an underlying imbalance in Prana Vata and Shleshaka Kapha. This leads to the production of shleshma (mucus), which settles in the nasal area and clogs the channels of the sinuses. To make matters worse, air pollution, stress, weather fluctuations, and lifestyle and diet can aggravate the imbalance and worsen the condition.

Follow these Ayurveda tips to improve sinus:

  • Have a diet that is vata-kapha friendly to pacify prana vata and shleshaka kapha.

  • You should not eat foods that are too hot or too cold. Avoid food like chilli peppers, ice-cold foods and beverages.

  • Eat warm, home-cooked meals. Food should be light, nurturing, and easy to digest.

  • Drink spice infused water. It purifies and flushes the toxins that have built up. Boil about 2 litres of water and pour into a flask. Add two basil (tulsi) leaves, two thin slices of ginger (adrak), four mint (pudina) leaves and two clove (laung) pieces. Make fresh every morning and drink throughout the day.

  • Eat fresh and organic fruits and vegetables. Avoid brinjal, banana, tomato and green bell pepper (shimla mirch) as they clog the channels in the sinus area.

  • Stick to regular mealtimes so the digestive balance is maintained and doesn’t create more ama.

  • Regular bowel movement is important to help detoxify the body and keep the sinus area balanced.

Sinus is a health problem that plagues many but simple lifestyle and dietary changes can improve the condition immensely. In case there’s more you want to know, call a Jiva doctor today. Dial 0129-4040404 or click on ‘Speak to a Doctor’ under the CONNECT tab in Jiva Health App.
