5 Natural Methods to Control & Get Relief in Piles

Piles are the swollen blood vessels around the anus and rectum. These vessels swell up due to the factors such as, severe constipation, diarrhea, lifting heavy weight, pregnancy or straining while passing stool.

Piles can be classified into external or internal according to their position.

Internal piles 2-3 cm inside the anal canal, or in the upper part of the anal canal.

External piles are nearer to the surface or protruding out.

How to Know if You Have Piles?

Sometimes there are no symptoms and you may not even be aware that you have piles. Most often there is bleeding from the piles which lead to weakness or anemia. Piles bleed while passing stools and the blood is bright red in color. Other symptoms are itching, redness, soreness, and discomfort while sitting.

Things That Increase The Chance of Piles:

There are certain situations which increase the chance of developing piles.

Constipation:

Straining while passing a hard stool, increases the pressure around the veins in the anal region leading to piles.

Pregnancy:

Hormone changes and increasing size of the uterus during pregnancy is a reason for pregnancy piles.

Ageing:

Chances of developing piles increases with age as the tissues become less supportive.

Obesity:

Obese people are at a higher risk of getting piles.

Natural Ways to Get Rid of Piles:

Earlier it was considered that surgical intervention is the only treatment for getting completely rid of piles, which is a myth. There are chances of recurrence after that. Ayurvedic medication and treatment has a lot of options to get rid of the discomfort caused by piles, and also to get rid of them in the long run.

Increased fibre intake:

Increasing the intake of fiber-rich food is a very good option for keeping away constipation and pile.

Hydration:

Fibre adds bulk to the stool whereas the fluids keep the intestine moving so that the bulk is pushed out of the body easily. Lot of fluids in any form, water or juices should be consumed. Alcohol and caffeinated drinks should be avoided.

Exercise:

Moderate exercises such as yoga, walking, swimming help preventing the hemorrhoids flare up.

Warm bath:

A warm bath gives a soothing sensation to the piles as it reduces the itching and soreness.

Don’t suppress urge:

Defecation delay causes hardening of stool which is difficult to pass through and also irritates the existing hemorrhoids.
