Calcium deficiency is a common problem in the modern world, but one that shouldn’t be ignored. Calcium deficiency in the body causes your bones and muscles to weaken and leads to diseases like Osteoporosis and Osteopenia.
There could be many reasons why your body is running low on calcium reasons. Here are the more common ones among them:
We are what we eat and hence not eating foods that are rich in calcium is one of the main causes of deficiency.
Vitamin D, Magnesium, and Potassium are required for the body to absorb calcium, so if these are deficient, calcium is automatically low.
Some diseases, like kidney disorders and prostate problems, also cause calcium deficiency.
Feeling of weakness and exhaustion.
A dry mouth.
Heart palpitations.
Insomnia
Eat calcium-rich foods like milk, curd, paneer, oats, fresh veggies, soybean and almonds.
Have herbs like Ashwagandha, Saunth, Methi and Shatavari. You can consume them in the form of tablets or as powders added to milk.
Make a dough by combining 2 parts wheat, 1 part soybean, and 1 part chana (chickpeas). Use this to make delicious, calcium-rich rotis for lunch and dinner.
Do Abhyanga (Ayurvedic self-massage) with til ka tel (sesame oil).
Make rotis using ragi flour (finger millet).
Spend time in the sun to increase your vitamin D. This aids the absorption of calcium into the body.
