Tap into the Power of Herbs to Ease the Symptoms of Diverticulitis

According to Ayurveda, the cause of Diverticulitis is improper eating and lack of fibre-rich diet. Due to this, the Vata and Pitta dosha aggravates, resulting in impairment of digestion. Improper digestion leads to constipation, which results in muscle strain while passing hard stool. And the increased pressure in the colon causes its walls to bulge out leading to Diverticulitis.

But let’s not give up hope yet! Ayurveda has a treasure trove of herbs to offer! Let’s look through a few of them:

Triphala

Triphala is an Ayurvedic herb mix made from three fruits - Amalaki, Bibhitaki, and Haritaki. This miraculous herb has been used for centuries to ease all sorts of health issues. It is excellent for Diverticulitis as it enhances digestion, reduces constipation, and clears the digestive tract without difficulty.

Dosage:

Have Triphala churan with a tsp of honey every day.

Jeerak

Jeerak, or jeera, is a spice widely used in Indian Cooking. It is bitter and is slightly pungent. Jeera is considered one of the best digestive tonics in Ayurveda. It’s other health benefits include dispelling gas, eliminating toxins, and acting as a mild laxative. Since it pacifies Vata and Kapha hence, jeera is good for people suffering from Diverticulitis.

Dosage:

To ease the symptoms of Diverticulitis, chew 1 tsp of roasted jeera and saunf every day before breakfast.

Amalaki

Full of amazing nutritional benefits, Amalaki holds its place at the top of the Ayurvedic herbs. This super herb helps retone your colon, pacify aggravated Vata and Pitta.

Dosage:

Grate 1 amla and strain the juice from the grated fruit and drink it first thing in the morning.

Augmenting your diet with these specially chosen herbs is useful for people suffering from Diverticulitis, since it aids healthy bowel movements.
