The 5 Main Causes of Prostate Problems

The prostate gland is a part of the male reproductive system, and its function is to produce a thin, milky substance that supports and protects the Shukra Dhatu (reproductive tissue). Since it’s a delicate organ, you should take utmost care of it. According to Ayurveda, prostate problems are caused by a number of factors.

Toxins in the Body:

An unhealthy diet and a sedentary lifestyle is the leading cause of prostate problems. It causes the build up of ama (toxins), leading to enlarged prostate or prostate cancer.

The Ageing Process:

As men age and reach their mid 40’s and beyond, the vata becomes naturally aggravated. This affects the apana vata (which controls the body below the navel), leading to a host of complications related to the reproductive system, including the prostate gland.

Overuse of Shukra Dhatu:

Indulging in excessive sex leads to the overuse of the shukra dhatu, which causes the prostate to become weak and become enlarged or develop other complications.

Suppressing Natural Urges:

It’s important to urinate when the urge hits you. Suppressing it for too long can cause the urine to become more concentrated, which irritates the prostate.

Sitting for Too Long:

Sitting in one place for long periods of time without taking a break or stretching can create imbalances in the reproductive system. Simply walking around or stretching every couple of hours can help.

Maintaining good prostate health is of the utmost importance and knowing what causes the problem is the first step of ensuring it doesn’t happen.
