Urad dal, or split black gram, is an extremely nutritious lentil. It contains protein, Vitamin B, thymine, riboflavin starch, fibers, iron, and calcium.
Urad dal, or split black gram, is very good for the heart. It reduces cholesterol and helps build magnesium and foliate levels in the blood stream, thereby reducing the chances of blockade in the cells.
Black gram is also known to increase potency. Soak it in water for 8-10 hours and grind it. Roast this paste in shuddh ghee (pure clarified butter). Now, mix it with milk and honey and have it regularly. This is a natural aphrodisiac and helps increase sperm count.
Those with weak digestion should not have black gram. However, if you have a robust digestion, this dal’s regular intake can have multiple positive effects on the body, such as increased blood cells count, better muscle density, and more stamina.
Here’s a detailed recipe of how to make a delicious pudding (kheer) using split black gram.
