Ayurvedic Herbs to Reduce Joint Pain

Joint disorders affect millions of people. Eight per cent of individuals over the age of 50 years have reportedly had joint concerns of one type or the other. Reasons can range from obesity to heredity. Here are some common herbs that can help ease the pain associated with the condition and bring some relief to you.

1) Nirgundi:

It is one of the most common herbs used to reduce joint pain It has anti-inflammatory, anti-convulsing and antioxidant properties that make it invaluable for people who have this condition. Applying Nirgundi oil or making a paste of the leaves and applying it to the joints can prove to be helpful.

2) Ajwain:

Owing to its anti-inflammatory properties, ajawain acts as a natural reliever for joint pain, especially during the winters when the condition flares up. Add a spoonful of ajwain in a tub of hot water and soak your aching joints in the water for 5-10 minutes. Also, crushing the seeds, making a paste, and applying it to the affected areas can alleviate pain.

3) Dashmool:

It is a mix of ten medicinal herbs that are used to cure a variety of ailments. It is available in the form of oil and powder and has anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, analgesic, and sedative properties. 4) Shallaki:

Available in the form of essential oils and powder, applying shallaki on the joints can keep them strong and bring relief from painful sores. Moreover, it also helps reduce swelling and increase mobility.

5) Ginger:

You can drink ginger tea or apply ginger paste on your joints. It is known to increase blood circulation and heal the affected area. Also known for its antiseptic properties, a good quality ginger essential oil can immensely help reduce joint pain.
