How to Increase Your Sperm Count Naturally

A concentration of fewer than 20 million sperms per millilitre is known as oligospermia ie lower than required sperm count.

Highlights

  • Reduce the number of times you ejaculate to twice a week.

  • Opt for cotton boxer shorts.

  • Avoid hot baths as overly heating the testicles can reduce the sperm count

Ideally, each millilitre of semen should contain millions of spermatozoa (sperm), but when this count falls before 20 million per millilitre, it is known as oligospermia ie lower than required sperm count. This is one of the main causes of infertility. But don't worry, with the right Ayurvedic chikitsas (treatments) and some basic guidelines, you can remedy this problem with ease.

Ayurvedic Guidelines

  • One of the most important steps you should take is to reduce the number of times you ejaculate to twice a week. This is because the more times you ejaculate, the less dense your semen will be.

  • Make love early in the morning as the sperm count is highest at this time.

  • Exercise regularly as strong pelvic muscles can help you shoot better and further.

  • Avoid all underwear that is either too tight or made from a heating fabric. Instead, opt for cotton boxer shorts.

  • Avoid having a bath with very hot water as overly heating the testicles harms the sperm count.

  • Make abhyanga (self-massage) a part of your daily routine as it improves the blood circulation and subsequently the sperm count.

  • Excess weight results in testosterone imbalances in the body leading to a low sperm count. To avoid this, exercise well and eat a diet that is high in protein, vegetables, and whole grains.

However, for long-term maintenance of the condition or to be free of it completely, you should consult a Jiva doctor. You can dial 0129-4040404 from your mobile phone or click on ‘Speak to a Doctor’ under the CONNECT tab in the Jiva Health App.
