Ayurveda treats all of these problems with a combination of herbal medicines, specialised diets as well as lifestyle management techniques that are all personalised for every individual patient. To get proper treatment for joint disorders problem it is important to first understand what reasons can lead to them. This will help you during your discussions with the doctor.

Injuries

Injuries can be of many different types. Let us take a closer look at each of them.

  1. Childhood injuries

Often problems such as knee pain or back pain that seems to happen without any reason have their origin in childhood injuries. Growing up children often fall and injure themselves, but at that phase the human body is very resilient and the chances of healing are very high. However, that depends on the quality of nutrition and care to avoid further injuries. In many cases of ankylosing spondylitis it has been seen that childhood injuries that did not heal well were the reason.

  1. Sports Injuries

Other very common form of injury is sport injury. In most cases, such injuries are poorly addressed and players ignore their problems at a young age only to be troubled at old age. Most outdoor sportsmen are at the risk of an inquiry due to lack of proper warm up steps or lack of following safety protocols. Knee pain and back pain are the most common form of complaints from ex-sportsmen. Cervical spondylitis, ankylosing spondylitis and hip joint problems are also common in such cases.

  1. Work Injuries

A very common risk among industrial workers is being injured by heavy equipment. Despite precautionary suggestions to use protective gear, accidents happen and lead to grievous injuries which later become cause for severe knee pain, back pain, or hip pain.

  1. Accidental Injuries

Accidental injuries is also another major concern behind joint and bone problems later in life. Accidental injuries may take years to heal especially if those are inflicted at a later age. Accidental injuries may also be caused by faulty surgery.

Congenital Bone Problems

Problems that are present at birth is another major reason behind joint disorders problem. Even minor birth defects can later lead to severe pains and aches which might need surgical intervention. In most cases surgery is avoided and therefore those become serious problems with the progress of age.

Hormonal Imbalance

Fluctuation in the levels of estrogen, testosterone or cortisol has been known to cause joint pain problems. In many cases, women entering menopause experience joint pains. It is also seen in menstruating women. Women with menstruation problems have a higher chance of suffering from joint disorders problem later in life. Stress hormone cortisol also has an inflammatory action which increases pain.

Genetic Causes

Studies have found that those with the HLA-B27 gene are more prone to  Ankylosing Spondylitis. However, it must be noted that not all with the gene will have the problem. It manifests in some people while not in others.

 Medicine Reaction

Adverse drug reaction is another documented cause behind joint pains. Cholesterol lowering medicine, certain antibiotics and steroid based asthma inhalers contain certain drugs that increases inflammation in joints,  thereby causing pains. Patients undergoing cancer treatment also report pain in joints of the knee or hips. This is a common reaction of the drugs used in the medicines.

Treatment

Ayurvedic treatment for ankylosing spondylitis, knee pain, back pain and other joint disorders problem is very effective and starts showing some improvement within a few weeks of beginning treatment. However, the medicines have to be taken in combination with herbal home remedies, dietary regimens recommended by the doctor and some mild exercises that are also individually prescribed by Jiva doctors

Preventing Complications

Joint pain treatment in Ayurveda must begin early. Therefore, for best results people with the complications must approach a doctor at the early stage. Delayed treatment is often associated with complications which may make surgery compulsory.  That is the reason why expert doctors recommend that you come to Ayurveda and start your healing journey before things become very complicated. In most cases, results start showing within a few months or even weeks of starting the treatment.

Home Remedies Vs Root-Cause Treatment

In several cases, you can begin with home remedy to get relief from the pain and stiffness in your joints. Start by applying a little warm oil around the affected area and massage gently to get some relief.  Ayurvedic potali massages can also be very effective in controlling the pain.
